10th! Annual Golf Tournament Preparations

Wednesday, September 19, 2018

The Golf Club at Newcastle

Mark you calendar the PNBAA community is celebrating the 10th Annual Golf Tournament on September 19, 2018. What you really want to know is when to request a sponsorship package or register to golf? The big date for both opportunities is Friday, June 1stSet your reminder now. Last year golfer registrations were sold out in less than 48 hours.

There are new experiences planned to make the 10th anniversary special including a mid-day start with a 12:00 pm call-to-carts. Non-golfers or those working can still plan to join the festivities at 4:00 pm by registering for the new Rusty Putter Miniature Golf contest/19th Hole/Dinner & Awards Ceremony package.

Prospective sponsors note all packages can be previewed on the event webpage starting May 1st, but they are not available to request for purchase until June 1st. There is not a "right of first refusal option" for 2018, to provide everyone an opportunity to pursue either an old or new favorite sponsor package.

Would you be interested in joining the core organizing committee now to make this tournament an even better experience? Email chair Cindy Hales to explore this teamwork and project management opportunity. The tournament day volunteer sign up form will be available in May. Thank you for the support.

3 Programs in 36 Hours

Early April was a busy time for the PNBAA community participating in three separate programs within 36 hours: Safety Officer Roundtable, Safety & Security Day and YoPro networking reception.

The first program was on April 4th with PNBAA and the Boeing Field Safety Officer Roundtable group co-hosting 30+ participants at the 2nd Annual Pacific Northwest Safety Officer Roundtable. The Roundtable meeting and interactive workshop was open to all Safety Officers. A key topic presented was the study underway by the Aviation Safety Information Analysis and Sharing (ASIAS) program. It is a collaborative government and industry partnership to discuss traffic flow issues around SEA and BFI. A working group will soon be formed to continue these productive discussions. Additional topics included Flight Risk Assessment tools, SMS buy-in, FOQA programs and changes in the work force.

The next program was a sold-out 10th annual PNBAA Safety & Security Day that featured six presentations. The diverse audience included five students with aviation career aspirations representing the Civil Air Patrol, Green River College and The Museum of Flight's Aeronautical Science Pathway program. Safety Patron sponsors created memorable experiences with a GulfstreamG280 static display at the Museum of Flight and Kenmore Aero Services donating a seaplane rating/float plane trip. Thank you to all 30 sponsors who helped make both safety programs a success!

Finally the last program was a new experience for dozens of the regions young professions attending the YoPro social reception. NBAA hosted with PNBAA's support to bring our under-40 community together strengthening their professional networks at a local beer hall. YoPro is a new initiative NBAA is leading and PNBAA is honored to be early supporter.

Board Projects Preview:  Prospective Member Outreach & Philanthropy

This year the PNBAA Board is undertaking two new projects that we want to preview this month. Let us know what you think as they develop throughout the year.

We recognize a large part of the business aviation community is unfamiliar with PNBAA or unsure what it offers them. It is your personal outreach that introduces new faces into our community. In the spirit of facilitating your peer outreach, the Board is developing a committee and infrastructure now to really start leveraging our Facebook and LinkedIn groups. The committee's first endeavor was to create the professional and welcoming brand shown in this newsletter. Stay tuned for more!

The Board's other 2018 project is reviewing our strategic philanthropy goals with the desired outcome to have more impact on business aviation within the Pacific Northwest. This year the Board is focused on uncovering more opportunities to invest in PNBAA members. An application process is forthcoming that will provide up to three members being awarded a grant up to $2,500 to further pursue career aspirations within business aviation. Start thinking about your personal growth plans that may not be funded by your organization.

The combined net proceeds from membership dues, event participation and sponsorship are all invested into scholarships and grants. Did you realize in 2017 that investment totaled a record $20,500? Those funds benefited:  two member training grants, three Raisbeck Aviation High School graduates, a Civil Air Patrol summer program and a Red-Tailed Hawks Aviation Camp.
